Kidney specialist joins UMMC faculty

Dr. Kenneth Kokko, a nephrologist, has joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center as an associate professor of medicine and associate medical director of the Renal Transplant Service. He will see patients through University of Mississippi Health Care.
A 1992 M.D./Ph.D. graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, he completed his residency training there in 1997 before taking two fellowships in the University's Division of Nephrology. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, the National Kidney Foundation and the American Society of Transplantation.
He formerly directed Emory's Renal Transplant Service, where he was an assistant professor in nephrology and assistant professor of surgery. Kokko is a diplomate of both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine Nephrology.
