Feb. 25 Cyberattack Update

February 25, 2026

We are making significant progress in responding to the cyberattack and restoring our systems. The national experts working with us have commented many times that we are much further along than other similar organizations that were victims of this level of attack.

Here are today’s updates and reminders:

Clinical:

  • Regularly scheduled clinic appointments and elective procedures will be cancelled through Friday. All cancelled appointments will be rescheduled in the near future.
  • Patients with time-sensitive needs can call the automated UMMC Triage Line at 601-815-0000.
  • Patients who contact us and require urgent care will be contacted directly to schedule a clinic visit today through Friday.
  • All hospitals and Emergency Departments in Jackson, Madison County, Holmes County and Grenada are open.
  • Through diligent and around-the-clock work, we are hopeful that we will be able to resume elective procedures and regular clinic operations as early as Monday. Our ability to do this will be clearer over the next couple of days.

Information Systems:

  • As we work to operationalize our recovery procedures, the phone system will be active intermittently. Some numbers continue to be forwarded to an answering service. Please note that we are not yet ready to inform the public that our phones may be open.
  • As noted in yesterday’s memo, keep all UMMC computers turned on and connected to the network, including overnight. This helps our DIS teams with deployment of security applications.
  • Any employee working off-site with a UMMC laptop that is not currently being used for critical operations should bring it to a UMMC facility to connect to the network and leave it to receive needed security updates.
  • DIS has begun a phased password reset procedure. At a future log in to the system, you may be asked to update your password.
  • Today, you should notice some connected applications and systems will become available. Please be aware that a return to full access will take time and conducted safely through several steps.

Thank you to everyone who has worked hard during these challenging circumstances and has maintained focus on our mission.
