SUBJECT:  Update on UMMC cyberattack

We continue to evaluate the impact of today’s cyberattack on our network systems, and we understand how important it is to inform our workforce of developments. Here are the most recent updates.

We anticipate this will be a multi-day event and are working with federal authorities and national experts on our response.

Operations

All clinics are closed tomorrow, and all elective procedures are cancelled. Appointments will be rescheduled. The exception is the dialysis clinic at the Jackson Medical Mall, which remains operational.

All our hospitals and Emergency Departments remain operational using downtime procedures. Our clinics statewide have been closed today and appointments will be rescheduled.

We have activated our Emergency Operations Plan and are working with authorities including the FBI and Homeland Security, who are helping us to evaluate this situation and determine next steps.

We are still evaluating the extent of systems impacted. As a precaution, we have shut down all our network systems and will conduct risk assessments before bringing anything back online.

In-person class schedules remain normal, but online classes are cancelled.

Payroll

Payroll scheduled for tomorrow is unaffected. At this time, no employee is required to submit personal time off related to this event.

Employees are expected to report to work, unless otherwise instructed by their managers.

Contact your manager for further guidance.

We will share additional information as it becomes available through memo and Alert U.
