Welcome from Dean Dobbs

Dear colleagues, students and friends,

After another remarkable semester at the John D. Bower School of Population Health, I am pleased to share this latest edition of our school newsletter as a reflection of the people, programs, and progress that drive our shared mission forward.

This issue highlights a community energized by purpose and guided by innovation. You’ll meet new faculty and staff whose talent strengthens our impact. You’ll read about the rigorous and inspiring research presented at our third annual Research Day, and the meaningful conversations sparked during our Distinguished Lectureship. Across departments, our students and faculty continue to lead the way through peer-led projects, public health outreach and groundbreaking data science.

This semester also saw the induction of new members into the L.C. Dorsey Research Honor Society, which honors those whose work embodies the spirit of Dr. Dorsey’s tireless advocacy for underserved communities. Their contributions inspire us to continue building a more just and inclusive health system.

Thank you for being part of this dynamic and growing community. Together, we are building a healthier Mississippi and advancing a national model for excellence in population health.
