Hearin Foundation supports population health training for future physicians

The John D. Bower School of Population Health is pleased to share that the Robert M. Hearin Foundation has awarded funding to support public health education at UMMC. Through this investment, tuition will be covered for 11 students to complete the Certificate of Population Health Science.

The award supports students who are considering enrolling in the School of Population Health’s new MPH for MDs program, which allows medical students to gain formal training in public health alongside their clinical education. The Hearin grant  helps remove the initial financial barriers of starting the MPH and strengthens the pipeline of physicians equipped to address health challenges at both the patient and population levels.

Based in Ridgeland, Mississippi, the Hearin Foundation is a longstanding philanthropic partner in the state with a strong focus on education and health care. Its support of population health training reflects a shared commitment to improving health outcomes across Mississippi through education, research, and service.

The School of Population Health is grateful for the Hearin Foundation’s continued investment in Mississippi’s future health leaders and the communities they will serve.
