IACUC Orientation and CCR Tour

Course description: This mandatory course, offered monthly, is required for all personnel working with animal subjects. The orientation provides an overview of the IACUC forms and submission process and the tour familiarizes personnel with UMMC’s animal facilities and husbandry details.

Course description: This web-based course is offered through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program); the course provides basic information regarding the U.S. regulations for protection of animal subjects used in research, teaching, and testing. It also describes the sources and applicability of regulations governing animals in these uses. In addition, it discusses the role, authority, and composition of the IACUC, the types of IACUC review, and the items of information required for the review.

Species Specific Training

Course description: These web-based courses are offered through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program); the courses provide regulatory mandates and biological features of each species. UMMC requires the principal investigator to complete at least one module per species involved in the protocol.

Refresher Course for Working with the IACUC

Course description: Mandatory course for Principal Investigators and personnel who have previously completed the IACUC course and will continue conducting animal research.
