Deputy Chief Joshua Bromen

Deputy Chief Joshua Bromen began his public safety career serving the Gulfport Police Department in 2008. He obtained the rank of commander of professional standards and served as a supervisor for the patrol division, traffic division, public information, community relations, and support division. He also served as a SWAT crisis negotiator, accident reconstructionist and member of the diversity and community outreach team. 

Bromen was appointed director of the Mississippi Analysis and Information Center (MSAIC), a division of the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security, before joining UMMC in 2021. 

The deputy chief, a graduate of the FBI Mississippi Regional Command College and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, received his bachelor’s degree in business management from Peru State College and master’s in law enforcement and public safety leadership from the University of San Diego. 

He lives in Pearl with his family.
