Deputy Chief Nicholas Kehoe
Nicholas Kehoe is the Deputy Chief of Police at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Police and Public Safety Department in Jackson, MS. He has over 10 years of experience in law enforcement, specializing in high-risk and complex investigations, crisis management, and departmental administration.
Before his appointment as Deputy Chief in 2024, Kehoe served as the Administrative/Criminal Investigations Division Captain at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. In this role, he managed the department’s budget, supervised detectives, coordinated major investigations, and implemented departmental policies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
Prior to his role at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Kehoe was a Sergeant at the Gulfport Police Department, where he led shifts, trained personnel, and served as a squad leader on the S.W.A.T. Entry team. Prior to being a Sergeant he served as a Detective at the Gulfport Police Department, investigating high-profile cases, coordinating with various law enforcement agencies, and ensuring the successful prosecution of violent criminals.
Kehoe began his law enforcement career as a Patrol Officer at the Gulfport Police Department in 2014, where he was responsible for the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, and apprehension of criminals. He has also served in supervisory roles, including as a Green Coat Security Supervisor at Michigan State University, where he coordinated security for large-scale Division 1 sporting events and collaborated with law enforcement agencies to ensure campus safety.
In addition to his extensive professional experience, Kehoe has received numerous accolades, including a Medal of Valor and recognition as Lawman of the Quarter. He is also a proud member of the Safariland Saves Club. Kehoe is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, and the University of Virginia, where he obtained a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education. Kehoe has also completed the prestigious FBI National Academy Session 288.
