Nurse Externship Program

The nurse externship is a temporary and part-time employment opportunity for nursing students who meet specific criteria.  Interested students will gain valuable skills and knowledge in the only academic medical center in the state of Mississippi. Also, as the state’s only Level (1) trauma center, the hospital offers high acuity patients in a diverse population. Students are guided by experienced nursing staff in the everyday work life of the professional nurse. In working alongside experienced nurses, students will aid in providing hands-on patient care and clinical reasoning skills. The knowledge bestowed upon the student will assist with enhancing the patient experience and increasing quality in nursing.
