The BMS department's collaborative research has expanded continuously. We have research collaborations inside and outside UMMC. For instance, we have developed research relationships with the cancer institute, maxillofacial surgery, physiology, and pharmacology departments, on our campus. Further, we have cemented collaboration with other institutions in the US and abroad, such as the civil engineering department at Ole Miss, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Brazilian Universities, and many more. We also collaborate with leading biomedical device manufacturers: Zavation (a Mississippi-based medical device company), Smith and nephew (medical technology company), Mirus (company that designs solutions for spinal and orthopaedic treatment), PWT (chemicals to safeguard membrane performance), and DePuy Synthes (orthopaedic and neuro products).
