Megan Costilow

Megan Costilow joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center Police and Public Safety Department (UMMC PD) as Director of Public Safety in 2024. In her current role, Costilow oversees the UMMC PD Communications Division and manages both Clery Act and NIBRS reporting. Committed to excellence, she is spearheading efforts to revise and update the agency's policies and procedures in pursuit of The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) accreditation. 

Costilow earned a Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 2020. She engaged in contract work with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and later as a Hearing Officer for the Texas Workforce Commission. Notably, from 2021 to 2024, Costilow served as the Director of the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, being the youngest individual to fill this role.  

Recognized as a course instructor by the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training, Costilow instructs the Certified Investigator Program of the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers' Training Academy. Additionally, she's a National Center for Missing & Exploited Children authorized facilitator, conducting statewide trainings on cyberbullying, sextortion, online enticement, and child exploitation awareness. Costilow was a 2017 graduate of Mississippi State University and Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity alumna, and holds a bachelor's degree in political science. She was honored as one of Mississippi State University's outstanding alumni, receiving a Reveille 25 award in 2024 for her remarkable contributions to her field of work and study.

Costilow is currently pursuing a Master of Public Safety from the University of Virginia and intends to obtain a Ph.D. after completion. She resides in Brandon, MS, with her beloved spouse and cats.
