Student Access Monitors

Student Access Monitors (SAMs) are UMMC PD work study positions that play an integral role in protecting the University of Mississippi Medical Center community. SAMs supplement UMMC PD officers by being posted at various entrances to student facilities, along with roving patrols, to help maintain security and report building access policy violations.

SAMs are trained each semester by the UMMC PD. SAMs do not have arrest powers but work with officers of the UMMC PD to identify potential problems or respond to incidents that may arise.
