Q: When should I contact the UMMC Specialty Pharmacy?
A: You should call us if:
Q: How much will my medicine cost?
A: The cost of your medicine will depend on your insurance plan. We will make sure to tell you what you will have to pay before ordering your medicines. If you can’t pay for your medicine, we are more than happy to work with organizations that can give you the most financial help.
Q: How can I pay for my medicine?
A: Your insurance may pay the full price. But if there is an additional amount you have to pay, we accept:
Q: Who will deliver my medicine if it is being shipped to me?
A: We offer free delivery services through UPS. We will let you know if you must sign for the package when we set up your delivery schedule.
Q: What if I miss a delivery?
A: As soon as you realize you have missed a delivery of your medicine, please call our pharmacy immediately. We will give you some options for getting your medicine in good condition.
Q: How will I know if my shipment is delayed?
A: Even though we do our best to have your package delivered on time, there might be delays due to weather or other reasons. If this happens, our staff will reach out to you by phone or email to let you know.
Q: What if I am having a reaction to my medicine?
A: If your tongue or mouth begins to swell or if you are having trouble breathing, call 911 immediately. This could be a sign of a life-threatening reaction. If you think you are having some other less serious side effect, you can call your doctor or the pharmacy to speak to a pharmacist.
Q: Will I get a generic substitute for my medicine?
A: If there is a generic medicine, we may substitute it for the brand medicine unless you or your doctor tells us not to. If there is no generic medicine, we will give you the brand medication.
Q: What happens if UMMC Specialty Pharmacy can’t get my medicine?
A: We do everything we can to keep your service, but sometimes we have to send your prescription to another pharmacy. If that happens, we will make sure your prescription goes to the right pharmacy and give them your contact and insurance information. We will call or email you to let you know about this change and give you the new pharmacy’s contact information.
Q: Where should I keep my medicine?
A: It is important to store your medicine like your UMMC pharmacist says you should. Keep all your medicines and medical supplies out of the reach of children and pets. If your medicine has to stay in the refrigerator, keep it in a special place, like a clean shelf or drawer. Put it in the refrigerator as soon as you get it. NEVER put your medicine in the freezer unless you are specifically told to.
