Children’s dentistry
Our pediatric dentists provide primary care and comprehensive dental specialty treatments for infants, children, adolescents, and individuals with special health care needs.
Dental implants
Our experienced periodontists replace a missing tooth or teeth by placing a restored tooth over a small titanium cylinder that has been surgically implanted into the jaw.
Endodontics
Endodontists specialize in treating problems with dental pulp, the tissue inside of teeth. Endodontists at University Dentists provide root canal therapy, treat cracked teeth and dental trauma, and perform dental surgery.
General and family dental care
We provide examinations, dental hygiene, and routine checkups for adults and children. Regular dental checkups help maintain oral health and identify areas of concern before they become major problems. We also teach patients how to maintain routine dental habits for healthy smiles.
Oral-maxillofacial services
University Dentists and the UMMC Cancer Center and Research Institute work together to identify, diagnose, and treat oral cancers. Our specialists provide oral-maxillofacial surgery, pathology, and radiology, and they are part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team.

Oral medicine
University Dentists help patients with conditions that include mouth tissue diseases, oral and facial pain, taste disorders, and salivary gland disorders such as dry mouth or burning mouth.
We also assist with the dental management of patients with medical problems requiring special consideration, including those with complicated medical histories, the elderly, and patients who have or who have had head and neck cancer.
Oral oncology
We provide comprehensive oral health management for patients who are at risk for or who have been diagnosed with oral or head and neck cancer. Our oral oncology services include rehabilitation services.
Orofacial pain and tooth ache treatment
Our dental professionals can determine the cause of discomfort and recommend and provide dental treatment.
Orthodontics
Orthodontists at University Dentists help children and adults achieve healthy, attractive smiles by aligning jaws and straightening teeth with braces and oral appliances.
Periodontics
Periodontists specialize in the treatment of diseases and conditions that affect the gums, bones, and other tissues that support the teeth in the mouth. In addition to treating periodontal disease, we also provide and work with dental implants.
Porcelain veneers
Using a thin porcelain facing, we can close spaces, make crooked teeth appear straight, and restore cracked, chipped, or discolored teeth. By bonding tooth-colored resin, we can restore areas of decay as well as provide cosmetic improvements.
Prosthodontics
Our dental prosthetics specialists restore and replace teeth with crowns, dentures, bridges, porcelain veneers, and implants.
Restorations
Dental decay can happen. When needed, our dental professionals can provide many options to remove decay and restore teeth using a wide variety of dental materials.
Sleep apnea appliances
Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea can often be treated with an intraoral appliance. We can work with your sleep doctor to provide appliances that may replace or enhance the continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) equipment you may be using.
Tooth whitening
Brightening and lightening dulled yellow teeth may be all that's needed to improve a smile. We provide whitening services that can be performed with our state-of-the-art whitening system or through a dentist-supervised at-home whitening system.
