DEI Community of Scholars

(DEI=Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)

The DEI Community of Scholars Program offers opportunities for faculty development, growth, and success. Historically underrepresented junior faculty, fellows, residents, and post docs from various health professional disciplines will connect to bolster scholarly achievements and research on topics relevant to DEI, social justice, health equity, and/or racial equality. Participants will also receive a free individual membership to the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) (a $495 value).

For the 2020-21 academic year, ODI will select up to ten (10) scholars to participate in this program. Scholars must commit to:

  • Active participation with an interprofessional team of scholars
  • Attending virtual writing circles twice a month
  • Contributing to article submissions agreed upon as a team
  • Utilizing features and services from the NCFDD (e.g., webinars, 14-day writing challenges, etc.)

If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to contact Dr. Juanyce D. Taylor, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, at jdtaylor@umc.edu. You may also complete the form below, no later than Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 by 5 p.m.

The selection process is currently closed due to the overwhelming response after the program's announcement. Please check back in the near future for other opportunities. Thank you.

Note: This program is grant-funded. Continuation in 2021-22 is dependent on available funding.
