For Providers
Hand Therapy
Hand therapy is the rehabilitation of the upper limb, including the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. This discipline is a hybrid of occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) theory and practice that combines comprehensive knowledge of upper limb anatomy with function and activity.
The therapy providers treating hand patients at UMMC specialize in their ability to assess, plan, and treat the full spectrum of upper extremity challenges. They deliver a comprehensive portfolio of therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function and/or reverse the progression of disease of the upper limb. Our goal is to enhance every individual’s ability to execute tasks and to participate fully in life despite whatever challenges they may face with their upper limbs.
