About the Hand Center
Director's Welcome
The Jabaley-Songcharoen Center for Hand, Upper Extremity and Nerve Surgery represents the first, multidisciplinary clinical collaboration of its kind at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. With experts in both plastic surgery and orthopaedic surgery working together, we provide patients and learners with the best of all approaches to care for hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder diseases and injuries.
Patients benefit from a model of care that eliminates silos between orthpaedic and plastic surgery services. This allows us to offer the full range of minimally invasive procedures along with wide awake, local anesthesia, no tourniquet (WALANT) options where possible.
Residents, fellows and researchers have exposure to the full scope of common and complex conditions affecting hands and upper extremities.
Central to our philosophy is collaboration with plastic and orthopaedic surgeons across Jackson, throughout Mississippi and around the world. It is through working together that we will continuously advance knowledge in our field.
As we advance hand surgery care for patients, we carry forward the vision of those for whom our Center is named: perpetuating world-class teaching, education, research and hand surgery innovation.
Thank you for your interest in the Jabaley-Songcharoen Center for Hand, Upper Extremity and Nerve Surgery. I am incredibly honored and proud to be a part of such an amazing new chapter in hand surgery for our community and at UMMC. Please reach out to our team if we can be of service to you or your patients.
