Overview

The Center for Immunology and Microbial Research (CIMR) will bring together basic science faculty and clinical investigators with expertise in aspects of immunology, emerging infectious diseases, microbial pathogenesis and antimicrobial resistance to foster an intellectual environment, facilitate collaborations and enhance research across UMMC.

Goals/Objectives/Actions: The mission and vision of the CIMR will be achieved by:

  • bringing together a multidisciplinary, team of basic and clinical scientists in immunology, microbial sciences, and related biomedical research;
  • translating results from basic and clinical research to improved and prevent infectious diseases and immumnological disorders;
  • promoting the education of researchers, health care professionals, and the general public in the area of immunology, emerging infectious diseases, microbial pathogenesis and antimicrobial resistance;
  • being an educational center to train the next generation of researchers and clinicians;
  • developing resources to enhance research and education.
The CIMR will achieve these goals and reach the desired outcomes by collaborating and recruiting clinical investigators and basic scientists to increase publications and grant submission with a collegial faculty.
