After suffering a spinal injury in a car accident, Summer Jefferson, a biochemistry major at the University of Mississippi, was determined to return to Ole Miss for her senior year. New SON dean's goal: Prepare school for huge shift in nursing education

Dr. Julie Sanford, who has been in academic nursing for 26 years, began her new role as dean of the University of Mississippi School of Nursing in late summer. She has her finger on the pulse of big changes coming to nursing education and has specific plans to prepare her new school for the shift.

Sanderson Farms first: SON staffs first aid tent

For the first time, students and faculty members from the School of Nursing managed and staffed the first aid tent at the Sanderson Farms Championship. They provided services for free, treating spectators, professional golfers and everyone associated with the event.

UMMC to expand HIV research

The national Women’s Interagency HIV Study, which has had a site in Jackson since 2013, will combine with the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study to form a new study. The research will focus on the impact of HIV and its long-term treatment on other chronic health conditions.
