This area of our website helps you obtain basic information about hospital prices for services provided at University of Mississippi Medical Center. As the state’s only academic medical center, with the only Level 1 trauma center, UMMC treats the most severe and complex health needs. Therefore, our prices are more comparable to those of other academic medical centers across the country than those of health care providers in our local market.
Group health plans must pay either the rate specified in a contract between the provider and the plan, or if there is no contract, a cash price published by the provider on a public internet site. UMMC's cash price is $100
Part of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) inpatient prospective payment system, DRGs (diagnosis-related groupings) are used by Medicare and other health insurance companies to categorize hospitalization costs and determine the appropriate payment for a patient’s hospital stay. Based on the principal diagnosis, specific secondary diagnoses, prescribed procedures, age of patient, sex of patient, and expected length of stay, this fixed payment amount covers all charges associated with an inpatient stay from the time of admission to discharge, including any services performed by an outside provider.
The hospital prices linked above represent the hospital prices only. Professional fees from your physician and anesthesiologist will be billed separately where applicable. Prices may vary based on pre-existing health conditions, severity of illness, and actual procedure performed. The prices listed are not what a patient may pay for the service/procedure listed. The amount you will pay depends on your insurance plan as well as any financial assistance for which you may qualify.
The pharmacy prices linked above are based on the single unit price. The total price will vary based on the total dose of medication administered.
