About Dermatology

Dermatology is the field of medicine concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders. In addition to skin disorders, many dermatologists treat certain hair and nail conditions.

Within the broad field of general dermatology, several sub-specialties focus on particular skin conditions. Here at the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Department of Dermatology, we are proud to provide comprehensive care in the following sub-specialty areas: Mohs surgery, skin pathology, pediatric dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, procedural dermatology, contact dermatitis/occupational dermatology and complex medical dermatology.

The UMMC difference

Our board-certified dermatologists can perform Mohs surgery for skin cancer and remove moles and other skin lesions at the Skin Cancer Center. We also offer the latest technologies in cosmetic dermatology, such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, skin fillers, skin analysis, and skin tightening at the Face and Skin Center.
