Student Handbook

About the handbook

The School of Nursing (SON) Student Handbook is available in the UMMC Catalog and provides information on SON-related policies, procedures, resources, and issues that concern students' academic lives. It acts as a companion to the UMMC Catalog and is reviewed every two years. You can also find a link to the Student Handbook in your program orientation/compliance Canvas course. To find the handbook in the Catalog, choose the current semester of the Catalog, then Schools - School of Nursing in the upper-hand corner. The SON Student Handbook will show in the left navigation of the page.

Student responsibility

Each student acknowledges receipt of the Student Handbook during orientation, both in WorkDay and in their program compliance Canvas course. Students are responsible for using the Student Handbook as a resource when questions arise and as a guide to academic/non-academic policies and procedures.

The policies and procedures are subject to change during the academic year. If changes occur, the Office of Student Affairs will communicate those via email. PhD in Nursing students should also refer to the Graduate Student Handbook within the UMMC Catalog. For any questions related to the content of the University of Mississippi Medical Center Catalog or Student Handbook, contact the Office of Student Affairs at ummcsonstudentaffairs@umc.edu or by calling (601) 984-6252.
