Continuing Education Information

Health care professionals in the following disciplines may have the opportunity to earn up to 16.5 continuing education hours:

Social workers - This conference has been approved for up to 16.5 hours ( 13.5 General, 1.5 Ethics, 1.5 Cultural Competency) for Social Workers by the Mississippi Board of Examiners for Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists (MSBOESWMFT). Approval # 19.44.

Nursing home administrators - This event has been approved for up to 16.5 continuing education hours by the Mississippi State Board of Nursing Home Administrators (NHA).

Recreational therapists - This event has been approved for up to 1.65 CEUs (16.5 hours) by the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Activity professionals - This activity has been approved for 16.5 instructional hours by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (approval # NCCAP500720-20).

Licensed marriage and family therapists - This conference has been approved for 16 general continuing education hours for marriage and family therapists by MSBOESWMFT (approval # MS19-038).

Occupational therapists - This activity has been approved for up to 16.5 clinical contact hours by the Mississippi Department of Health Division of Professional Licensure.

Physical therapists - This program has been approved for 16.5 clinical continuing competence (CC) credits by the Mississippi State Board of Physical Therapy.

Speech-language pathologists/audiologists - This activity has been approved for up to 16.5 clinical contact hours by the Mississippi Department of Health Division of Professional Licensure.

Nurses - UMMC, School of Nursing Continuing Education Program, provider number, 00200-EDI-8RW, is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Mississippi Nurses Foundation Inc., an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

As an approved provider, UMMC, School of Nursing may award up to 16.5 contact hours. Participation in and successful completion of this activity will be determined by the participant signing in, attending the sessions for which credit is desired, and completing the evaluation tool. Each participant should claim only those hours of credit that he or she actually spends in the educational activity. Certified Counselors - The 20th Annual Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias has been approved by NBCC for NBCC credit.  Sessions approved for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The MIND Center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is solely responsible for all aspects of the program. NBCC Approval No. SP-3350.

  • Mississippi Leads the Way: Advances in Alzheimer’s and Aging Research - Thomas H. Mosley, Jr.  PhD. 1.0 hr.
  • Art in Mind: Making Memory Connections Through Art - Susan Anand, MA, ATR-BC, ATCS, LPAT, LMFT; McKenzie Drake.  1.5 hrs.
  • Senior Enrichment: The Importance of Activities - Sheri Bankston, CTRS.  1.25 hrs.
  • Successful Aging is Worth Talking About - Teresa Carithers, PhD, RD, LD, FAND. 1.5 hrs.

Mental Health Disciplines Credit: Mississippi Department of Mental Health

LifecoreLogo-002.jpgLIFECORE Health Group will provide DMH-approved CEUs to anyone who is certified or licensed through the Department of Mental Health, Division of PLACE. 1 CE hr. is equivalent to 60 minutes spent face-to-face with a qualified instructor up to 16.5 hours.
