UMMC Coronavirus (COVID-19) News

As of Saturday, April 4, at 10:15 a.m. Mississippi has 1,455 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 35 deaths.

Mississippi Cases

The Mississippi State Department of Health on April 4 reported 1,455 cases of COVID-19, up from 1,358 cases as of April 3, with the death toll rising to 35.

The first death, a Hancock County man aged 60-65 with underlying health conditions, was reported March 19. Since then, one death has been recorded in each of Amite, Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Hancock, Holmes, Humphreys, Jackson, Lafayette, Lauderdale, Lee, Leflore, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Panola, Pearl River, Perry, Pontotoc, Rankin, Sunflower, Tunica, Webster and Yazoo; two in Chickasaw; and three in each of Tippah, Wilkinson and Harrison counties.

One death was an individual between 30-39, two were individuals aged 40-49, one aged 50-59, six aged 60-69, and 25 aged 70 and above. Many had underlying health conditions.

MSDH is investigating all cases to limit the spread of the virus.
