The UMMC Stroke Center provides a variety of services promoting wellness and rehabilitation for stroke patients.
Lack of public knowledge regarding stroke puts Mississippians at an even higher risk for the often fatal condition. UMMC is a leader in the Mississippi Stroke Education Consortium, an effort devoted to decreasing stroke-related illness and death through education. Partners include the American Heart Association, Information Quality Healthcare, Mississippi State Department of Health, and Mississippi Hospital Association.
While education helps prevent strokes, proper medication, rehabilitation, and follow-up care are vital components to recovery. After-care is provided by physicians at University Physicians Pavilion and Jackson Medical Mall.
