Stroke Wellness and Rehabilitation

University of Mississippi Medical Center and University Primary Stroke Center specialists provide a variety of services promoting wellness and rehabilitation for stroke patients.

Community education

Lack of public knowledge regarding stroke puts Mississippians at an even higher risk for the often fatal condition. UMMC is a leader in the Mississippi Stroke Education Consortium, an effort devoted to decreasing stroke-related illness and death through education. Partners include the American Heart Association, Information Quality Healthcare, Mississippi Department of Health and Mississippi Hospital Association.

Rehabilitation

While education helps prevent strokes, proper medication, rehabilitation and follow-up care are components vital to recovery. After-care is provided by physicians at University Physicians Pavilion and Jackson Medical Mall.
