Checklist

  • Blood draw supplies
  • Specimen supplies
  • Pre-labeled specimen containers/tubes
  • Large and small specimen bags

Process

  • Don PPE with double glove
  • RN in hot room collects, labels, and scans specimens
  • RN in hot room puts labeled specimens into pre-labeled small specimen bags
  • RN doffs outer gloves, performs hand hygiene, cleans biohazard specimen bag with purple wipe
  • Through door, RN in hot room drops small biohazard bag into new large specimen bag held by assistant in anteroom (wearing gloves and N95 only)
  • No labs or specimens are to be tubed
