Norwood promoted to associate dean

Dr. Anne Norwood, professor of nursing, has been promoted to associate dean for practice and partnerships in the School of Nursing. Prior to serving as interim in the role for the past year, she was the director of the Acute/Primary Care Pediatric and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner tracks at the SON and taught in the graduate programs.

Dr. Norwood is the clinic director of the Jackson School-Based Health Clinics located at Lanier High School, Galloway Elementary and Johnson Elementary. She has been awarded two grants for the past eight years totaling over $600,000 for her work at these clinics through the Mississippi Department of Education. Dr. Norwood practices part-time as a FNP at Johnson Health Clinic and UMMC’s Center of Telehealth. She also continues to teach in the master's program.

She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi (BS) and Delta State University (BSN and MSN). She earned her Ph.D. from UMMC School of Health Related Professions where she performed bench research on human colon cancer cells. She is a member of Mississippi Nurses Association, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and Mississippi Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics.
