Women's Care

About Women's Health

Women's health focuses on caring for women throughout their lives, from routine health care to pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. Women’s health includes preventive screening, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions that affect women, and maternal-fetal medicine for expectant mothers and their unborn babies.

The UMMC Difference

UMMC Women's Care provides comprehensive and compassionate medical care for women during every stage of life, from a teenage girl's first visit to her gynecologist to an older woman's expectations after menopause.

We offer:

  • Expert specialized care for pregnancy, breast and gynecologic cancer, heart health, birth control, mental health, fitness, and more.
  • Innovative treatments and technologies in a convenient, comfortable setting at University Physicians Women's Specialty Care at Mirror Lake. Nationally recognized physicians and specially trained staff members treat patients with high-risk pregnancies, fertility challenges, gynecologic cancer, pelvic floor disorders, and menopause, among other conditions.
  • A hospital devoted to expectant mothers and their newborns. Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants features a mother-baby unit, surgical suites, and the state’s only Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
  • Maternal-fetal medicine. We have the largest group of maternal-fetal medicine specialists in the state and the UMMC Center for Maternal and Fetal Care, one of the few fetal medicine centers in the Southeast.
  • Leading-edge fertility treatments available from our experienced team of reproductive endocrinologists.
  • UMMC Women's Urgent Care. The only dedicated women’s urgent care center in the region, UMMC Women's Urgent Care is equipped to handle all obstetric and gynecological emergencies.
  • A WIC program. The state's only hospital-based enrollment program for mothers and babies who qualify for Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) supplements.
