Maternal-fetal medicine specialists are a type of obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) who are experts in managing complicated pregnancies. Maternal-fetal medicine specialists work with the expectant mother’s referring OB-GYN to provide customized care.

If advanced care is needed, our maternal-fetal medicine specialists work in collaboration with a team of expert subspecialists through UMMC’s Center for Maternal and Fetal Care. This multidisciplinary team works together to care for both the mother and child’s unique needs - all under one roof.

The maternal-fetal medicine program cares for expectant mothers in need of additional attention during their pregnancies. Our specialists provide a compassionate environment for the diagnosis and management of complicated pregnancies. As the largest group of maternal-fetal specialists in the state, our team has access to leading-edge diagnostic testing to determine the appropriate level of individualized care for mother and child.

Located on the UMMC campus in the Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants, maternal-fetal medicine offers:
