The obstetrics program at UMMC Women's Care focuses not just on the health of the expectant mom, but also on providing the comfort and security that comes from knowledge and support. We offer a variety of prenatal, preparation, and childbirth classes for parents (and their families) who plan to have their babies delivered at Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants.
All classes are free. Preregistration is required. To assure class availability, we recommend registering for classes no later than the fifth month of pregnancy.
Learn about and prepare for labor and birth in this two-part class.
Taught by certified Lamaze instructors, this class provides a more extensive look at pregnancy and birth and also includes instruction in car seat safety, safe sleep, and safe prenatal exercise tips.
Deciding how to feed a baby is one of the most important decisions a mother can make. This class is for parents planning to breastfeed and for those considering it. Taught by nationally certified educators, breastfeeding classes provide an opportunity for mothers-to-be to learn the most current information and techniques for a successful breastfeeding experience.
This class gives new parents the confidence and skills to care for their new baby during the first weeks at home. Taughts by American Heart Association instructors, CPR Anytime® teaches correct CPR for infants. Basic infant care, normal newborn characteristics and behaviors, and common parental concerns are also covered.
Going into labor can be intimidating, which is why we offer tours of Wiser Hospital. We want expectant mothers and families to feel comfortable with their surroundings before the day of delivery.
