Oxford Campus Admission Criteria

Preference for admission to the Accelerated BSN program will be extended to qualified Ole Miss graduates first.

Qualified Ole Miss graduates include those who meet Accelerated BSN admission criteria and one of the following criteria:

  • Currently working toward a University of Mississippi graduate or undergraduate degree and hold the degree by program entry in August;
  • Have graduated from the University of Mississippi within the past two years;
  • Hold a University of Mississippi degree that is more than two years old but currently enrolled in prerequisite coursework at the University of Mississippi;
  • Hold a non-UM degree but currently enrolled in prerequisite coursework at the University of Mississippi and have completed a minimum of 31 hours of coursework at Ole Miss before the program start date in August.

Technical Standards for Admission, Progression and Graduation (Technical Standards) are an integral component of the School of Nursing at the University of Mississippi Medical Center academic requirements that identify core professional nursing communities in eight specific domains - critical thinking/cognitive competencies, professional relationships, communication, mobility, motor skills, hearing and visual skills, observation and tactile sense. Nursing students must meet all the requirements of the Technical Standards, with or without reasonable accommodations, in order to successfully progress through and graduate from their respective curricula.

For the Accelerated BSN program, you must complete 62 hours of prerequisite coursework. However, many of these prerequisites are classes that you more than likely completed in your bachelor's program. Additional prerequisites may be completed at the college, university or community college of your choice. If you have questions regarding prerequisites or your application's status, please call (601) 984-1080 or (601) 815-0124.
