Welcome from the Program Director
A very warm welcome to the Medicine/Pediatrics (Med/Peds) Residency Program at UMMC! We are thrilled to invite you to explore everything our vibrant community has to offer. For over two decades, we have nurtured a combined training environment that pairs clinical excellence in both adult and pediatric care with a deeply personal touch. We pride ourselves on creating a cohesive, supportive experience tailored around your unique career aspirations, professional needs, and personal milestones.
Our program is fully integrated with our categorical internal medicine and pediatric programs and benefits from a varied inpatient and outpatient population encompassing normal growth and development, acute care, and the management of complex medical conditions. We have top-notch facilities including multi-disciplinary clinic, state-of-the-art adult hospital, women's and infant's hospital, neonatal ICU, pediatric ICU, adult critical care tower, separate adult and pediatric emergency departments, and a robust basic science and clinical research program.
We firmly believe that the secret to cultivating exceptional Med/Peds physicians lies in caring for the whole person—not just the hours you spend in the clinic or hospital. Our residents and their loved ones are the absolute heart of our program, treasured deeply by leadership, faculty, and peers alike.
