Family Medicine Faculty Development
Dr. Chris Arthur is director of Family Medicine education and faculty development. She works closely with the chair to assess and plan faculty development opportunities, both group and individual.
Dr. Arthur meets with faculty members one-on-one for a personal assessment of their faculty development needs and to develop an individualized faculty development plan with them. An additional meeting every 6 months allows revision and update. Each faculty can share their plan and accomplishments with the chair at their annual faculty evaluation session if they choose. Many of the activities cross over to the promotion and tenure portfolio so these criteria are kept in mind.
The department sponsors faculty development group sessions throughout the year based on assessed needs - clinical, procedural and educational. There is a yearly Saturday faculty retreat, the topic of which varies year to year.
