Biography: David Norris, MD, FAAFP completed his medical training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he also completed his residency in Family Medicine. After joining the faculty, he assumed responsibility for the educational offerings of the Department of Family Medicine as Medical Student Education Director. He has been active in the educational and clinical programs both at UMMC and on the national stage. This has included serving as the President of the Faculty Senate and development of the Introduction to the Medical Profession I curriculum for first year medical students. He has served as a standing member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Medical Student Education Committee, the steering committee for the STFM Conference on Medical Student Education, and as the liaison between STFM and the American Academy of Family Physicians Commission on Education. Dr. Norris is a recipient of the Degree of Fellow from the American Academic of Family Physicians and has completed a fellowship in academic medicine and has received the Master of Arts Degree in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi, where he is currently pursuing the Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education.
