Biography
Dr. Amanda Rice is native of Jackson, MS who graduated from Mississippi College in 2001. After graduation from college, Dr. Rice attended University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Due to her roots, she returned to complete Family Medicine residency at University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2011. Dr. Rice has practiced medicine in Mississippi serving patients in rural area and Jackson metro area. Dr. Rice has served as a physician in multiple compacities including private practice and as Chief Medical Officer at a Federally Qualified Health Center. Dr. Rice returned to UMMC in 2019 to become faculty in the Department of Family Medicine. Since being at UMMC, Dr. Rice has become core faculty at the residency program and continues to see her own panel of patients at the Flowood family medicine clinic. Dr. Rice is board certified in family medicine, a member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and Group on Women in Medicine and Science. She is committed to patient care and has a passion for educating patients, community health, and educating learners. Outside of Medicine, Dr. Rice enjoys spending time with her family, serves as youth mentor, and enjoys singing.
