Letter from the Director
Mississippians are suffering. Our state has the second highest Alzheimer’s death rate in the country. Over 57,000 Mississippians are currently living with this disease, and in just five short years, that number is expected to swell to 65,000. Something must be done.
The time has come to finally solve the puzzle of Alzheimer’s and lead the way to healthier aging.
Since its inception in 2010, The MIND Center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center has produced a remarkable research track record and made significant discoveries in the field of Alzheimer’s and dementia research.
The MIND Center is accelerating its discoveries in the field of brain aging through its groundbreaking research study called the UMMC MIND Center - Mayo Clinic Study of Aging. The MIND Center is leading this study in collaboration with global research leader Mayo Clinic.
The MIND Center is a nationally recognized leader in Alzheimer’s and dementia research. The Study of Aging advances our research mission to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, which affect the cognitive health of millions worldwide.
Thank you for your interest in this important research. With committed study volunteers and our dedicated research team, we stand on the threshold of new hope to find improved ways to prevent and treat Alzheimer’s and related dementias and to promote healthy aging. We cannot wait to get started.
