Outpatient Treatment Services

The Behavioral Health Specialty Clinic (BHSC), located at University Physicians Riverchase, is the primary outpatient clinic location for the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. We provide comprehensive evaluation and therapy using a collaborative team-based model. Our staff includes trainees such as medical students and psychiatry residents who provide care under the direct supervision of our licensed clinical faculty.

Specialties

Mood and anxiety

  • Assessments and treatments for mood disorders such as bipolar, major depression, and persistent depression disorders, as well as anxiety disorders such as post-traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive, panic, social, anxiety, and generalized anxiety disorders

Neurocognitive disorders

  • Treatment for memory disorders as well as psychiatric disorders related to stroke, traumatic brain injury, Tourette’s syndrome, and seizure disorders
  • Treatment for developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and chronic headache accompanied by psychiatric symptoms

Psychotic disorders

  • Treatment for severe and chronic mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and delusional disorder

General mental health conditions

  • An entry point into care for those whose mental health condition has not yet been diagnosed or whose condition does not fit into one of our other specialties

Substance use

  • Assessment of substance use disorders and treatments including psychosocial intervention and medication

LGBTQ care

  • High-quality mental health care for those in the LGBTQ community in an affirming, supportive treatment environment that is sensitive to their unique challenges and needs

Center for Advancement of Youth

  • The Center for Advancement of Youth provides assessment and treatment for minors 6-17 years old
  • Typical problems include obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), behavioral disturbances, depression, and a variety of mood and anxiety disorders

Center for Integrative Health

  • The Center for Intergrative Health is patient-centered care that enhances health, healing, wellness, and quality of life
  • Uses a team-based model to develop comprehensive treatment plans that emphasize both mental and physical health. The plans aim to facilitate each person’s natural capacity for health and healing.
