Biography: Dr. Tarver serves as both Division Chief for Geriatrics and Director of Clinical Services for The MIND Center at UMMC. She has served for over 20 years as a clinician educator with board certification in Internal Medicine and more recently fellowship training and board certification in Geriatrics. She has a dedicated passion for vulnerable and underserved dementia patients and their caregivers. She is a sought after lecturer in Mississippi on many issues related to comprehensive dementia care and caregiver support. She serves as a legislative advocate for persons with Alzheimer's and related diseases as well as for their caregivers. Dr. Tarver also has particular interest in psychiatric illness and grief counseling for older persons. She obtained certificate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Los Angeles, CA and founded a clinic which provides psychotherapy services to older people. Outside interests include reading, playing trumpet and woodworking. She holds a second degree black belt in Taekwondo and is a World Champion in sparring.
