Biography: Dr. Manasa Gunturu MD is a Fellowship-trained Neuro-ophthalmologist and ABPN board-certified Neurologist. Dr. Gunturu is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She also serves as the Director for the Adult Neurology Residency Program.

Dr. Gunturu received her medical degree from Andhra Medical College in India. She completed her residency in Neurology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a Neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.

Dr. Gunturu's clinical practice includes the entire scope of visual disorders resulting from neurological diseases. She treats patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri), optic neuritis, non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, giant cell arteritis, and diplopia, including ocular myasthenia gravis, and visual problems resulting from strokes and brain tumors. She works closely with colleagues within the Department of Ophthalmology, Neurology, Neurosurgery and is also a member of the multidisciplinary team for the management of pituitary tumors at the University of Mississippi.

Dr. Gunturu teaches medical students and residents in both ophthalmology and neurology. She has also initiated the monthly Neuro-ophthalmology lecture series for the education of residents. She is actively involved in several educational committees at University of Mississippi. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society.
