Biography: Dr. Flischel graduated from Washington and Jefferson College with a BA in biology and then matriculated to the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She completed a preliminary medicine internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a dermatology residency at Case Western University Hospitals, where she served as chief resident. After finishing her residency in 2011, she returned to active duty at the Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California, where she also served as assistant program director for the residency program. An avid educator, she received the outstanding teacher award for her service mentoring medical students and residents. After three years, she was assigned to the Captain James A Lovell Federal Health Care Center in Chicago, where she served as section chief of the Dermatology Department for four years and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander before leaving active duty to enter civilian practice in 2018. Dr. Flischel then joined the Department of Dermatology at Northwestern University before joining the University of Mississippi Medical Center faculty as Associate Professor of Dermatology. A fellow of the American Board of Dermatology, she is a mission-driven physician dedicated to her patients, medical students, residents, and staff.

With involvement of the entire team, including reception, nursing, medical students, and residents, we can do this while fulfilling UMMC’s mission of education and patient care.
