UMMC Writing Collaborative
The UMMC Writing Collaborative partners with the University of Mississippi (UM) Writing Centers to offer exceptional writing support services to UMMC students. Services are available at no charge to students currently enrolled in any UMMC school. The goal of the UMMC Writing Collaborative is to add value to the educational experience through writing critique and feedback.
Requesting an appointment
Click the button below to request an appointment with UM Writing Centers:
When you request an appointment, be sure to complete the form and upload the document needing review. The request form must be completed in order to reserve an appointment with one of the UM Writing Centers. Files must be in Microsoft Word and have a strategic name, such as the student’s name or the type of document.
Students should provide pertinent information/requirements for the writing assignments and list specific questions or concerns for the writing consultant when submitting the form.
Students must plan accordingly and request appointments early in the semester and ahead of due dates or deadlines.
Correspondence appointments
Only correspondence appointments are available; they are asynchronous and ideal for receiving feedback from a writing consultant.
Once the form is submitted, staff at the UM Writing Centers will reserve an appointment, and the student will receive a confirmation email. Within 24 hours of the appointment, the student will receive an email with feedback for the reviewed document.
For more information
For more information, please visit the UM Writing Centers online. All communication concerning appointments should be sent to UMMCWC@go.olemiss.edu.
University Tutoring Services
University Tutoring Services is a peer tutoring program available to students currently enrolled at UMMC who are experiencing academic difficulty. Supportive instruction is provided by peers with similar educational backgrounds, and services are provided at no charge to students.
To participate in tutoring, students must:
- be enrolled in a school at UMMC;
- be registered in the course for which tutoring is provided;
- be experiencing academic difficulty and scored below the designated threshold on a course examination;
- be referred to University Tutoring Services by their academic dean; and
- agree to all the requirements of University Tutoring Services as outlined in the Student Contract.
Students who meet the eligibility criteria above should contact their program directors or academic deans for information about referrals for tutoring.
Students are assigned to tutors through an impartial process based on specific criteria, which is best for both the student and the peer tutor. Neither students nor tutors are allowed to request specific assignments. While tutoring is available for many foundational courses, it is not available for all courses at the institution. Students will be contacted with further information once they have been referred for tutoring by their academic deans.
For information regarding online and distance education tools and resources, please visit the Office of Academic Innovation website.
If you have any questions about success resources, email Student Success or contact the Office of Student Affairs.
