Center for Maternal and Fetal Care

The UMMC Center for Maternal and Fetal Care offers one of the few fetal medicine programs in the Southeast. Our multidisciplinary team ensures that unborn and newborn babies—and their mothers—receive highly advanced care, clinical expertise, and personal support for complex pregnancies and births.

Our specialists offer family-oriented and highly customized care based on each patient's unique needs. The care team includes members with nationally-recognized expertise in pediatric surgery, maternal-fetal medicine, fetal radiology, fetal cardiology, neonatology, and genetics.

In one day and under one roof, mothers and their unborn babies can receive multiple fetal imaging studies, including high-resolution ultrasound, ultra-fast fetal MRI, and fetal echocardiography. Families also meet with a genetic counselor who offers supplemental medical guidance. Our skilled multidisciplinary team takes care of the patient and family from orientation to delivery, to hospital discharge and beyond.
