Barksdale Scholarship

For over 20 years, Jim and Donna Barksdale have committed to keep the best and brightest here at home in Mississippi. Through their sustained support for diversity in education, almost 100 current students and graduates are now a part of ensuring the health and well-being of our state, without the burden of student debt. The Jim and Donna Barksdale School of Medicine Scholarship Endowment is an opportunity to thank them for the steadfast support of our school and our state, while ensuring students for years to come will be able to learn and grow here at home.

Dr. Hadley Pearson shared this sentiment at the Barksdale Luncheon in 2017. “…I admire the Barksdales, not only for their seemingly limitless generosity to me, but also for their remarkable faith in this state. Loving Mississippi is hard...They’ve shown me how much there is to love here, how the people here are good, kind, and smart…They think this state is worth fighting for, and I hope I can make them proud by doing just that."
