The Office of Academic Support manages academic accommodations at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC).
UMMC is committed to ensuring equal access to a quality education for qualified students through the provision of reasonable academic accommodations which support UMMC standards and academic integrity. UMMC policy provides for reasonable academic accommodations to be made for students with verified disabilities on an individualized and flexible basis as specified under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
UMMC provides reasonable academic accommodations to students on campus who request accommodations and who meet eligibility criteria. Please see the steps below for the process of Academic Accommodations at UMMC:
STEP 1 - Students must be admitted and enrolled at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Note: Students in the School of Pharmacy should apply for academic accommodations through the University of Mississippi, Oxford Campus.
STEP 2 - Students should review the Documentation Guidelines for Academic Accommodations. The Documentation Guidelines can be found here.
STEP 3 - Students must complete a Request for Academic Accommodations found below, which includes documentation from a licensed healthcare professional (e.g., physician, psychologist). The completed documentation should be submitted to Dorothy Singleton in the Office of Academic Support.
STEP 4 - Once documentation is complete, students must schedule a meeting with an academic consultant in the Office of Academic Support to discuss the Request for Academic Accommodations.
STEP 5 - The Request for Academic Accommodations will be reviewed by the Accommodations Review Committee.
STEP 6 - Students and their deans will be contacted with the committee's decision and any applicable recommendations for reasonable accommodations.
