Program Distinctives
As Mississippi’s academic medical center and state-designated Level I trauma center, UMMC offers the most advanced and comprehensive trauma and burn care in the region. Our trauma teams provide 24/7 coverage supported by more than 100 medical and surgical specialists.
We offer full subspecialty surgical support, including complex orthopedic trauma, neurosurgery, vascular and cardiothoracic surgery, emergency general surgery, and critical care. Our burn center provides statewide adult and pediatric burn care, and through Children’s of Mississippi, we support the state’s only dedicated pediatric trauma and burn programs.
AirCare, our critical care transport program, brings ICU-level resuscitation directly to the field for referring facilities, ensuring rapid, expert care for severely injured patients throughout Mississippi and beyond.
