Physicians with the knowledge and skills necessary for the practice of clinical preventive medicine focusing on promoting health, preventing disease and managing the health of communities and defined populations will work to reduce health disparities, decrease disease burden and improve health outcomes for all people, especially the people of Mississippi.
To equip physicians with the necessary knowledge and skills for improving the health of individuals and populations by identifying health needs, designing, implementing and evaluating health services and managing the health of individuals, communities and defined populations with a focus on reducing health disparities, decreasing disease burden and improving health outcomes and who will successfully attain board certification in the field of Public Health and General Preventive Medicine (PHGPM) after completion of training.
