The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss., invites applications for two new tenure-track positions at the assistant or associate professor level. 

Candidates must hold a PhD, PharmD and/or MD degree and will be expected to maintain an extramurally funded research program and participate in our graduate, medical and/or dental teaching programs. Preference will be given to applicants with extramural funding and research interests using molecular and cellular approaches to identify new genes, targets, and treatments for dementia, neurodegenerative diseases, stroke or traumatic brain/spinal cord injury.  

Successful candidates may qualify for membership and research space in an emerging Neuroscience Institute that will occupy a new research building beginning in August 2017. Serious consideration will also be given to outstanding applicants in other areas that complement the department’s current research efforts in cardiovascular, cell signaling, renal and cancer drug development.  

The salaries for both positions are fully funded and will come with a competitive start-up package. The department has core facilities for mass spec, histology, confocal and ultrasound imaging and access to an institutional cutting-edge genomics facility.
