The entry-level professional program for students seeking a Doctor fo Physical Therapy degree is 36 months in duration, beginning in the summer session each year. One class is admitted each year.
Due to variability of available clinical sites, completion of the required curriculum may be extended beyond the minimum of 36 months. The program has no provisions for part-time students.
Learning activities include lecture, interprofessional education activities, practical laboratory sessions, and clinical education experiences. Clinical education experiences require the student to temporarily relocate out-of-state for at least one clinical session.
This program offers residencies in neurology, pediatrics, and sports physical therapy for licensed physical therapists. The residency programs in neurologic physical therapy and sports physical therapy are accredited through the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTFRE). A residency program in pediatric physical therapy is in the candidacy stage of developing, indicating ABPTFRE approval for the first pediatric resident.
