Rebecca M. Sugg, MD, FAHA, is an interventional vascular neurologist, Director of the Mississippi Comprehensive Stroke Center, associate professor in the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Radiology, and Surgery, and vice-chairman of the Department of Neurology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She was formerly a interventional vascular neurologist at Neuro Interventional and Diagnostic Associates, and an assistant clinical professor at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri.Dr. Sugg earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine at Birmingham, and completed an internship at the Baptist Health System in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a resident in neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and completed fellowships in vascular neurology at the University of Texas at Houston in Houston, Texas, and neuroradiology and endovascular surgical neuroradiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Sugg is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in neurology and vascular neurology as well as by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties in Neuroimaging.Dr. Sugg is the author or coauthor of numerous scientific articles on the treatment of patients with cerebrovascular disease, which have been published in various peer-reviewed journals, including American Journal of Neuroradiology, Archives of Neurology, and Stroke. She is a senior member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Neurointerventional Surgery, and the Society of Neurovascular Interventional Neurology.
