Dr. Kimberlly Stringer is a native of Birmingham, AL. During a high school summer internship at the Sparks Developmental Center at UAB, Dr. Stringer decided she wanted to work with children with special needs. She received her undergraduate degree and master’s degree in public health from the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). She received her MD from the University of Tennessee in 2005 and completed her pediatric residency from Texas-Tech Health Science Center in 2009. After residency, Dr. Stringer pursued her subspecialty training in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She was involved in the early assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. She is currently an assistant professor of Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and one of the developmental-behavioral pediatricians at the Center for the Advancement of Youth at Children’s of Mississippi. In addition to diagnosing and treating children with autism spectrum disorder, Dr. Stringer has research interests in the early identification and screening of autism spectrum disorders, the utilization autism services and parental support groups, and identifying metabolic risks of children taking atypical antipsychotic medication.
